Ishmael Tetteh, the Ghanaian boxer nicknamed Black Roy Jones, fights for the lowly regarded World Boxing Union (WBU) Light Middleweight title against Marco Schulze on Saturday October 15 at the Ofen Stadthalle, Velten, Brandenburg, Germany with a vow to claim victory, the title and re-launch his bid for a recognised world title as he strives to achieve his career goals.
Tetteh, 24-6-2 (13 KOs), is coming off three straight victories this year after losing the last two of 2010, first to South African Peter Mashamaite right here in Accra in a bid for the vacant WBO Africa Middleweight title, then in faraway Russia for the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental Light Middleweight belt against Anton Novikov. Now he says he is in the best shape of his life and raring to go against German Schulze (30-6-1, 18 KOs), even if it’s in the opponent’s own backyard.
“The mission is still on, the mission I set myself to be a world champion before I became a professional still fires me on. I’ve had a few setbacks but I believe that what does not kill you can only make you stronger,” an obviously confident Ishmael Tetteh has told ALL SPORTS. The boxer who will be accompanied on the trip to Germany by his trainer Collins Kusi and Manager Abubakari Issah added: “Ghanaians should remember me in their prayers because I promise them this fights begins my journey to the world title in America. I promise to do everything to win.”Credit:
