Former Black Stars player Derek Boateng has weighed in on concerns over the recent Black Stars' performance, urging Ghanaians to have patience.

According to the former Fulham midfielder, the Black Stars have a new set of squad members, including the manager, Otto Addo.

He believes the players have not yet cracked the code for the national team; hence, they are in the process.

“I think the coach is a new coach. He's a young coach. We have young players and new players," he said as quoted by GhanaSoccernet.

“They don’t know what it means to play for Ghana and what they have to go through before they can represent the country. So, for me, it’s a learning process for them.”

The Black Stars have won two games in 2024 after beating Mali and the Central African Republic in June.

They could not build on the momentum as they lost one and drew one of their last two games in September.

Ghana are now winless in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and are at risk of not qualifying for the tournament if they fail to beat Sudan.

The Black Stars will face Sudan in a doubleheader, with the first leg slated for October 10 in Accra and the return leg on October 14, 2024, in Libya.
