It’s against our laws to pay Black Maidens - Oduro Sarfo

Chairman of the Black Maidens Committee, Oduro Sarfo has disclosed that the Black Maidens will not be paid for every game played in the World Cup Qualifiers.

The astute football administrator claims it was against the laws of Ghana to pay persons under 18-years money, hence the National under 17 female team won’t receive such monitory packages.

However, Oduro Sarfo stressed that plans were underway to create bank accounts for players below the legal age so they reap the benefits of the hard work when they attain 18-years.

Speaking prior to the team’s departure from Accra on Friday, the Berekum Chelsea CEO noted despite the hindrance, players will receive per diems during their stay in Liberia.

“As we are going, we have a per diem which is due them automatically, when we get there they will sign and take them,” Oduro Sarfo told the press. He added, “We don’t believe in starting with them with match-winning bonus, we’ve done it like qualification bonus so if they qualify, we will give them some money which they will agree upon.”

Oduro Sarfo also noted that young players must not be exposed to money at tender ages since it will do them no good.

“It’s against our laws to be paying minors monies, there was something that was done in terms of opening accounts for them, when I come back I will follow it and see where it’s gotten to so we put them on that line, else we may sow the spirit of monetization in them and I don’t think it will be good for us.”

The Black Maidens will take on their Liberian counterparts stars of Liberia on Sunday March 1, 2020 at the Antoinette Tubman Sports Stadium, 14:00GMT.
