Astute ace sports analyst, Jeffery Asare, has mentioned that it’s about time some of the players plying their trade on the local scene, are given a chance to prove themselves in the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The Black Stars comprises of only two local based players i.e. Stephen Adams (Aduana Stars) and Fatau Dauda (Ashgold) with the rest of the team plying their trade outside the country.
Though the Stars have qualified for the 2015 AFCON to be staged in Equatorial Guinea, Jeffery Asare believes that there is the need for the Stars technical team to cast the net wider so as to give some of the local players a chance to justify their inclusion ahead of the Nations Cup.
“I have always mentioned that there is the need to give some of these guys here a chance. We have qualified to the Nations Cup as a nation and that is a sign of a good team. But I believe we can do better in terms of defense especially.”
“One player who I believe if given the chance will turn out to be a very good asset of the Black Stars is Abeiku Ainooson of Asante Kotoko. He is very good and if you look at his record at Kotoko, it tells a lot of a promising player.”
“Not only him, but we have other great guys out there, and even though the league has not started, we already know their quality. And I believe that inviting them to justify their inclusion will do their confidence a world of good,” Jeffery Asare mentioned to sportscrusader.com.
