PRESIDENT of the Ghana Football Association(GFA),Akwasi Nyantakyi has received a National Honour in Cote d’Ivoire after being presented with the award of “Officer of the National Order of Cote d’Ivoire”.
The award, which comes with a special medal, was bestowed on the Presidents/Chairmen of the Football Associations in Africa who have qualified to play in the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa, the first on African soil since the championship began 80 years ago. The presentation was done by the President of Cote d’Ivoire, Mr. Laurent Gbagbo.
The other beneficiaries are the Heads of Football Associations of host country, South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroun, Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire. This is the second time,Ghana is going to worldcup.
Ghana has been drawn against Serbia, Australia and Germany in the World Cup which holds from June 11 to July 11 in South Africa.
