Veteran coach J.E Sarpong has revealed that Princeton Owusu-Ansah is the greatest player he groomed ahead of Ghana star Asamoah Gyan.
The outspoken trainer has been in football for over three decades, nurturing some of Ghana's biggest talents.
But according to Sarpong, it's Princeton Owusu-Ansah who left an indelible impression on his coaching career due to the former midfielder's work rate.
"Without mincing words, Princeton Owusu-Ansah is the greatest player I groomed," coach Sarpong said on Skyy FM.
"I chose him because he was a utility player, who could play three different positions (defence, midfield, attack)."
"After his generation, Asamoah Gyan took over the baton. But the greatest of them all is Princeton Owusu-Ansah."
"When Princeton is playing, his demeanor is like someone who is high on 'Wee' (Marijuana), meaning, he's so serious and very focused on the game, and would shout on you because he's the captain."
"But if you talk about a player I developed who shot into prominence, then it is Asamoah Gyan."
Sarpong coached Owusu-Ansah at AshantiGold SC. He worked with Gyan at Accra Academy School before the former Sunderland played under him at Liberty professionals.
