Veteran Ghanaian coach J.E Sarpong has advised Asante Kotoko coach, Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin against his public tantrums following his assertion that not even Pep Guardiola can win the Ghana Premier League title with the materials at his disposal.

Kotoko shared the spoils 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea in Week 8 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday, a result which has sparked a lot of criticisms amongst the Porcupine fraternity.

In the wake of the match, Coach Fabin intimated that he is not a magician to turn their fortunes overnight hence needs time to extricate their ailing campaign.

The former Ghana U-17 coach has been lambasted over that comments by some section of the Kotoko family, and veteran coach J.E Sarpong has also added his voice to the issue by urging his colleague to be wary of how he takes his emotions into games, though he agreed with the coach’s verdict.

"The pressure that comes with the work is very huge and once you fail to control your tongue, it becomes something else," Sarpong told Asempa FM.

"The problem I have with him is that, when he taking up the job I advised him to stay off it if he's not ready but people chastised me and called me names. Paa Kwesi is right by urging the supporters to exercise patience because the work is very demanding and I don't think he can change things overnight.”

"I remember in his first conference he said the club has good players but after taking full charge of the job, he's seen that what he saw from afar is different from what he is seeing now. He's right to say that that he needs time to rebuild but his choice of words was bad. In Ghana we don't use such words which will prick supporters emotions.

J.E Sarpong was coy when asked if he believes Paa Kwesi has the clout to lead the club to achieve their ambitions in the ongoing season.

"It's God who can decide. When he was going there I told him to be careful because the place is like a banana peel but he ignored, so let's wait and see," he deduced.

Kotoko will play as guests to Wa All Stars in Week 9 of the league on Sunday, April 22.
