Former GHALCA boss Joseph Yaw Appiah has lashed out at Ashantigold goalkeeper over his recent criticism of Mitre balls being used in the Ghanaian top-flight.

The former chief of the club's umbrella body, who doubles as the sole agent for Mitre balls in Ghana, has downplayed the criticism from the Ashantigold goalkeeper as ill-informed.

The use of Mitre ball in the Ghanaian top-flight has come under tight scrutiny after Abdoulaye Soulama's howler gifted Kotoko a precious 1-0 win over Hearts in the country's Super clash on May 2.

The veteran shot-stopper blamed the Mitre Ball for clanger which gifted the Porcupine Warriors the crucial win in Accra.

But former GHALCA boss, Joseph Yaw Appiah has condemned the claims by the goalkeeper.

“It is the fastest FIFA approved match ball, in London, they are using it. If he is not a good goalkeeper and conceding goals he should not attribute to the ball," he told Starr sports

“He should approach the FA to vent his spleen and not the ball; moreover he is not the only player using the Mitre ball.

“Mitre has been producing footballs over two centuries and even in the UK, SA they are using the same ball."
