Jackson Owusu needs our prayers not chastising– George Kennedy

The Operations Manager of Asante Kotoko, Mr. George Kennedy has called on the Club’s fraternity to throw their weight behind crocked Jackson Owusu to return to full fitness.

Owusu Jackson fractured his tibia last weekend in a Sunday special match and will be out of football for about eight months.

A section of the media and fans labeled him ‘unprofessional’ for playing such a match contrary to the contract signed with Asante Kotoko, and there have already been hymns that the former Berekum Chelsea midfielder will be sanctioned by management of the club.

Mr. George described his injury as ‘a sad situation for Kotoko’ but was quick to point out that his recovery matters now than any other thing.

“It is a sad situation for Kotoko, but it has happened and there’s nothing we can about it,” George Kennedy told sportscrusader.com at Tema sports stadium when David Duncan was putting the players through the final touches for the league opener.

“A healing process mostly depends on the things that you hear, and the things that you see…so I will say for now, let’s not be thinking of how he will be punished. We should stop the chastising and pray for him for the healing process to be faster.

“That should be our ultimate prayer … he is not supposed to have (played unofficial match) and he did; there’s nothing we can do so let’s pray for him and hope for the best,” he said.

Kumasi Asante will open their premier league campaign against West Africa Football Academy on Saturday February 20 at the Sogakope Park.
