Master Abeiku Jackson, 15 year old Ghanaian Swimming prodigy will miss the ongoing Africa Junior Swimming Championship in Cairo, Egypt, after the Ghana Swimming Association (GSA), failed to secure funds for him to embark on the trip.

Mr. Theophilus Edzie Wilson, President of the GSA, who revealed this to the GNA Sports in an interview said his outfit was unable to secure funding for the young swimmer, hence his continuous stay in Ghana.

According to Mr. Wilson, efforts made at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) and the corporate bodies have failed hence their inability to fund the trip.

He said though the competition has started the swimmer will be allowed to participate if he joins midway adding that, Master Jackson will be able to make an impact despite the delay.

Mr Wilson, appealed to individuals and corporate bodies to come to the aid of the association and to enable them to overcome their financial challenges.

Swimming has over the past years made significant strides both on the local and international scene, despite serious financial challenges.

The championship is fixed for October 13-21, 2015 in Cairo, Egypt.
