Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong, who delivered an outstanding performance for Bayer Leverkusen last season, has become a hot commodity on the transfer market.
Despite his pivotal role, it's uncertain whether he will remain with the Werkself next season.
Frimpong's offensive prowess, goal-scoring ability, and remarkable speed have attracted interest from football giants such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal FC, Manchester United, Paris St. Germain, and FC Bayern.
Recently, 'Sport' added FC Barcelona to the mix, although the Catalan club's financial constraints require them to sell players before acquiring new ones. Nonetheless, they are closely monitoring Frimpong's situation.
A decision on Frimpong's future is imminent, as his release clause at Leverkusen is set to expire on June 14th, coinciding with the start of the European Championship.
Until then, the 23-year-old defender can be signed for 40 million euros, a figure potentially below his market value. The clock is ticking, and clubs are in a race against time to secure his services.
