Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko cannot sign for Turkish giants Besiktas despite being a free agent, GHANASoccernet.com can reveal.
Per the transfer rules in Turkey, clubs cannot sign free agents even after the closure of the transfer window.
Akaminoko, 27, is available on a free transfer after leaving fellow Turkish side Eskisehirspor.
But the centre-back can turn attention to China where clubs are spending megabucks for quality players.
Eskisehirspor canceled Akaminko's contract last month despite having two years left on it as he was contracted to Eskisehirspor until June 2018.
Akaminko’s career has been severely affected by the injury he suffered just hours before Ghana named it final World Cup squad for the 2014 World Cup.
The centre-back has struggled to regain his form since suffering a knee injury last May in a Ghana pre-2014 FIFA World Cup friendly against the Netherlands.
Akaminko sat out the entire 2014/2015 season without kicking a ball as he went through rehabilitation.
Since recovering from the injury he has not regained his top form which looks to have led to the decision to cancel his contract.
Akaminko started his Turkey in adventure in the 2008-2009 season with Orduspor before switching to Manisaspor from where he was signed by Eskisehirspor in the summer of 2012 for 1 million 350 thousand Euros.
