Ex-Asante Kotoko chairman, Dr. Desmond Sarpong, says job insecurity in managing clubs is hurting the game in Ghana.

Managers often operate on the wishes of club owners in Ghana as against perhaps the best interest of the club.

This usually is to ensure their continued stay in office as administrators.

Dr. Sarpong who quit after leading Asante Kotoko to two successive Premier League titles believes it is a phenomenon that hinders administrative progress of clubs in Ghana.

“There is no job security as managements are changed at the will of the owners,” he said during a lecture to the Rotary Club.

“You don’t leap to the left you can be fired, and that can be embarrassing to you depending on who you are.”

Kotoko currently have a board in place and a working administrator in Opoku Nti who has been given three-months to operate.
