Potent Ghanaian forward John Antwi has consolidated his status as the top scoring foreigner in the Egyptian league by netting his 70th goal.
Antwi, who is just 27, achieved this feat by netting for Pyramids FC in their 2 nil away victory over Arab Contractors FC on Tuesday.
Antwi put his name on the score sheet in the 40th minute to double his side’s lead. It was his second goal in this season’s Egyptian top flight.
Overall, Antwi has now scored 70 goals in the Egyptian Premier League (in 155 matches), a feat unmatched by any other foreign player.
Antwi started his career with Al Ismaily in 2013 where he scored 28 goals before joining Al Ahly two years later, scoring three goals.
He went on to join Misr El Makassa where he scored 37 goals. He has scored two league goals for Pyramids FC, a team he joined just this summer.
His total surpasses the 61 goals scored for Egyptian teams by fellow Ghanaian Ernest Papa Arko who played for five Egyptian clubs including Zamalek.
