Their dominance was reward in the 68th minute when defensive stalwart John Boye tap home from close range.
The Ghana international was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball into the right side of the goal.
The 32-year-old's lone goal proved to be the winner as FC Metz grabbed their fourth win of the season.
