Ghanaian football pundit and fitness expert, Francis Totti Laryea, has questioned the decision by Black Stars coach Otto Addo to exclude former Medeama midfielder Jonathan Sowah from the Ghana squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Coach Otto Addo announced his 26-man squad on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at a press conference held at the premises of the GFA.

It was reported that the striker had earned a call-up for the games against Mali and the Central African Republic.

However, his name was missing when the squad was announced on Wednesday by coach Otto Addo.

Currently playing for Al Nasr Benghazi in Libya, Sowah has been in impressive form, scoring five goals in six appearances in the Libyan Premier League.

He dominated the headlines recently when he scored four goals in a single match in the Libyan league.

Reacting to the call-ups, Totti Laryea, who is the CEO of Train Like a Pro Gh, argued that Jonathan Sowah has been impressive and consistent since last year and therefore deserved a place in the squad.

"I'm surprised Jonathan Sowah is not in the squad. Jonathan Sowah has been really outstanding for Medeama and even when he moved to Libya, he has performed well, so why is he not on the team? Coach Otto Addo should tell Ghanaians why he didn't call him. Sowah is a very fit and focused guy who would have helped us in these two matches, so why wasn't he called?" he queried.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars commenced camping for the two games on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Most of the invited players arrived in camp earlier in the day, with training set to commence on Friday, June 1, 2024.

The team will visit Mali on Thursday, June 7, 2024, before hosting the Central African Republic on Monday, June 10, 2024.
