Leicester City fell to a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in a Premier League clash on Saturday, August 31, 2024, with Ghanaian duo Jordan Ayew and Fatawu Issahaku featuring in the encounter.

Ayew, starting as the lead striker, played 68 minutes, while winger Issahaku also started and lasted 67 minutes.

Despite Leicester City controlling possession, they struggled to create clear-cut chances, while Aston Villa proved more clinical.

The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute through Amadou Onana's strike. Leicester responded with a spirited performance but found themselves trailing further when Jhon Durán doubled Villa’s advantage in the 63rd minute.

Leicester briefly sparked hope of a comeback when Facundo Buonanotte found the back of the net in the 73rd minute, but Villa held firm to secure the victory.

This defeat comes after Leicester’s midweek win over Tranmere Rovers in the League Cup, while Aston Villa bounced back from a loss to Arsenal in their previous Premier League outing. Leicester will look to regroup ahead of their next match against Crystal Palace on September 14th.
