Jordan's red card affected Swansea - Carlos Carvahal
Swansea City manager has lamented over the loss of key forward Jordan Ayew during the critical stages of the season, insisting it affected the club's campaign.
Jordan Ayew has had an amazing season and emerged the club's top scorer with 11 goals so far. However, the club is on the brink of getting relegated and manager Carlos Carvahal believes the loss of Jordan Ayew at the "crucial" moment of the season took a massive toll on the club.
“That made things difficult for us, but we never complained. We were always positive and we achieved points," he told the club's official website.
“Then, in the crucial moment of the season, we lost our main goalscorer and one of our best players effectively for four games, because Jordan Ayew was sent off right at the beginning of the game against Huddersfield."
“At the end we are not in a good position, but we have a tiny chance to stay in the Premier League and we will do our best."
Jordan Ayew missed three important games for the Swans after he was red carded in the game against Huddersfield.
Swansea will be up against Stoke City on Sunday in the final game of the season but will have to beat the Potters by a huge scoreline with the hope that Southampton loses heavily to Manchester City.
