In an attempt to revive boxing in the Volta region, Aborigines Promotions will on Friday March 30, 2018 assemble boxers in Aflao for the fight night christened ‘The Homecoming.’

The show is aimed at re-launching the career of 2-time former Bantamweight world champion, Joseph King Kong Agbeko.

The former holder of the IBF title on two occasions between 2007 and 2011 will have to take two fights to set up another crack at the world title again and he fights in the main bout of the night against undefeated Ugandan champion, Frank Kiwalabye (15-0, 12 KOs).

Other fights on the night sees Volta’s very own super lightweight favourite, Dotse Anama (13-1, 11 KOs) AKA Polopala is due to fight on the undercard against Amos Dankui.

Others on the bill for the undercard are Super Middleweight prospect, John Koudeha who will fight George Ankrah.

Welterweight boxer, Victus Kamevor will also battle it out with Ray Ankrah whilst Nathaniel Nukpe and Peter Musah slug it out in a featherweight contest with the night completed by a super featherweight contest between Michael Pappoe and Moses Dodze.

Promoter of the March 30 bout, Mitch Woolams, CEO of Aborigines Promotions is confident ‘The Homecoming’ bill can reactivate boxing careers and the sport in the region.

“The main idea is to reignite the sport again in the Volta region and to keep our boxers active,” said Mitch who also runs the famous Aborigines Beach Resort in Keta, also in the Volta Region.

Aflao apart from sharing Ghana’s border with Togo, is a popular hub in that part of the country where boxing is vibrant.

Weigh-in is on Thursday March 29, 2018 at 10:00am at the T-Square Arena, Low cost, in Aflao where the fights also take place on Friday night.
