Ghanaian Sports Journalist with the Congo-based, Euronews-owned Africanews has been named by the Confederation of African Football as part of the panel of voting experts for the 2017 African Football of the Year Awards.
In an announcement made Friday, CAF said it has expanded its electoral college for the decision making process.
Bawuah and 19 others will help in selecting the continent’s best footballers under the year in review, CAF says.
CAF named the Colleges as: 1 Members of the CAF Media Committee 2 Members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee 3 Panel of 20 experts (Journalists, TV consultants) 4 Member Associations (Head Coaches of National Team ‘A’ or National Technical Directors
For the two main awards, African Player of the Year and African Player of the Year Based in Africa, all four components of the Electoral College (listed above) will be involved in the selection process, CAF adds.
Colleges 1,2 and Half of 3 will be involved in Phase 1, whilst Colleges 4 and half of 3 for Phase 2.
For the other award categories, only 1, 2 and 3 will take part in the selection of the eventual winners.
The Glo-CAF 2016 Awards will be held on Thursday, 5 January 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria.
A visible name in the Sports Journalism ecosystem in the African continent, Juliet Bawuah until October last year, was with local television station TV3. Prior to TV3, she worked at CITI FM, Etv, and Metro TV. She’s also written for the respected football website Goal.
