Ghana striker Junior Agogo has vowed to repay Colin Calderwood’s faith in him by getting in among the goals at Scottish side Hibernian.

Garry O’Connor has been in superb form this season despite a number of off-the-park problems, scoring eight in his opening ten games.

Agogo’s goal against Dundee United on Saturday, in contrast, was his first in six appearances since his arrival as a free agent last month.

But the 32-year-old is confident there will be plenty more to come with his fitness levels improving every week.

Boss Caldo was keen to bring the striker to Easter Road having worked with him at Nottingham Forest.

Agogo said: “It’s been a bit stop-start since I have been here but the gaffer has stuck with me. He knows what I can do.

“I have been training hard and doing extra work and stuff and I am getting there.

“I need a couple of more games to get properly match fit but I am getting there and that’s the main thing.

“The United game was the first time I has played 85 minutes and both myself and the fans have to be a little bit patient.

“After a few more games you will see the real Junior Agogo, it’s coming with every training session and every game I play. Things are on the up.”

Striker Phil Airey has returned to Newcastle after cutting short his six-month loan.
