K. N. Owusu Memorial Invitational Tournament

...Schedule of Matches and Rules and Regulations for the Released

The Events and Competitions Committee of the Ghana Hockey Association has released the schedule of matches together with the Rules and Regulations for the 3rd K. N. Owusu Memorial Invitational Tournament schedule for 11-14 December 2002.

According to the GHA, the tournament will serve among other purposes, the opportunity to unearth the potential and expose hockey talents in the selected Regions. In this respect therefore, the regulations stipulates that registered competitors should not have been registered and playing in the Regional league of another Region. The implication is that players registered and playing in the competitive Greater Accra Hockey League will not be eligible to displace the potential talents within the Regions as it had been in the past.

The release indicated that there would be 4 days of competition comprising of a total of 9 competitive matches. In the afternoon of the final day of tournament, a combination of Citizens and Veterans hockey clubs will play Multistix hockey club while the Greater Accra Hockey Association will field 2 Ladies teams to play as a showcase for women’s hockey.

The Tournament will follow a two-pool competition plan in which the 6 competing teams will be divided into two pools. Within the pools, the teams play on a league basis to determine which team wins the pool. The two pool winners meet in the final for the ultimate prize on Saturday, December 14, 2002. The pools will be as follows:
