Kaizer Chiefs Sign Louis Agyeman

What the Kaizer Chiefs web site described as "the suspense around our defence and striking force" was today diluted, if not totally alleviated, when the battling Premier League champions announced the signing of Ghanaian international striker Louis Agyenan and Ditheko Mototo, a promising left-back from Bloemfontein Young Tigers.

After failing in the pre-season Vodacom Challenge and Telkom Charity Cup, a pall of gloom has descended over the army of supporters of the Naturena-based glamour club - particularly as the loss of prolific-scoring Zambian striker, Collins Mbesuma, to English Premiership club Portsmouth appears to have left a void of catastrophic proportions.

Mohatle described Agyenan as "a national asset", not making it totally clear whether he was a national asset to Ghana or now as far as Chiefs were concerned. But, national asset or not, Agyenan has big boots to fill in taking over from the dynamic and lethal Mbesuma, who scored 35 crucial goals for Chiefs last season. But he comes to South Africa with glowing references from new Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp, who worked with Agyenan while coaching Hearts of Oak in Ghana.
