A Canada-based company known as Stele Promotion, in conjunction with Accra based boxing Promotion Company also known as Gold Dust Production are organising an international fight for two Ghanaian boxers.
The two boxers are Joshua Okine, a welterweight champion and Braimah Komoko a super middleweight champion. Okine and Komoko will be expected to fight Leon Gilkes of Toronto and Adrain Diaconu of Montreal.
Mr. Emmanuel Quaye, Vice chairman of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association And also the Manager of Gold Dust Production company the brain behind this bout said it has always been his intention to help uplift the image of both amateur and professional boxing in the country. He said, he believes that this exchange programme between Ghana and Canada, which is expected to take off later this month, will open the way for development of boxing in the country.
Mr. Emmanuel Quaye said he saw the two boxers at Kumasi during a national selection exercise in 1995 and he said to himself "I will do everything humanly possible to keep them for the commonwealth and World titles in the immediate future".
The fight will take place at the Hershey Centre, Mississauga, Canada, on April 26. The boxers were expected to leave the country with their coaches on April 23 and return on the 7th of May.
