Kano Pillars goalkeeper Ibrahim Iddrisu is upbeat about his side’s chances ahead of their CAF Champions League showdown with Asante Kotoko.

The first leg of the tie will take place in Nigeria on the weekend of August 9-11 with the return leg set for Kumasi two weeks later.

Speaking in an exclusive interview to Kumasi Base fox FM, the former King Faisal shot-stopper said;

“We were very happy when we heard the draw that we are going to play against Asante Kotoko, Kano Pillars is also a big club here in Nigeria just as Kotoko and we are aware of Kotoko’s strength so we are preparing. Just as Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are the biggest clubs in Ghana, so is Pillars also with Enyimba FC here, so we are expecting an interesting clash.

I thank everyone from Ghana for the support given me from day one, I will do everything I can to help Pillars and Insha Allahu we will eliminate Asante Kotoko”

Kano Pillars will be making their six appearances in the CAF inter-club competition with their best outing being in 2009 where they reached the semi-final stage by beating Egyptian giants, Al Ahly.

Kotoko’s last appearance in the Champions League was in 2015. The Porcupines were eliminated in the first-round by Algerian side MC El Eulma.

The winner of the two-legged match will progress to the final round to play either Hafia FC of Guinea or Tunisian club, Etoile du Sahel.
