Karela United Football Club continued their impressive home run with a win over Inter Allies in Week 15 of the Zylofone Cash Premier League at the Cosby Awuah Memorial Park.
Inter Allies went into the game with so much confidence after defeating Accra Hearts of Oak by a lone goal on Thursday but Karela United made sure they were added to the tall list of teams to have tasted defeat at the dreaded Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.
The Ayinase based club opened the scoring in the early hours of the game through Abdul Ganiyu from the spot in the 8th minutes.
Inter Allies who created limited chances in the game, equalized through Paul Abanga’s penalty after a corner kick had hit the hands of Ampem Dacosta.
Karela kept pushing for their second goal in the first half but all their efforts proved futile as the first half ended.
The home side took total control of the game in the second half and created loads of chances but were denied on all occasions by young goal keeper Saed Salifu.
After a long wait, William Opoku Mensah who came on for Diawusie Taylor brought Karela back into the lead with a header in the 79th minutes from Imoro Ibrahim’s corner kick.
The win meant Karela United finished the first round of the 2017-2018 season of the Ghana Premier League in second position with 25 points, just two points behind leaders Medeama SC.
