Despite having faced 2015-16 champions Wa All Stars and twenty-time winners Hearts of Oak, Ashanti Gold coach CK Akunnor says Wednesday's Ghana Premier League clash with newly-promoted Karela FC arguably passes for their toughest match thus far.
Richard Osei Agyemang emerged hero for the Miners as his goal ensured a 1-0 hard-fought win over the debutants in the matchday three fixture in Obuasi.
The game was on the back of their 1-0 home and 3-1 away triumphs over All Stars and Hearts.
"This is probably the toughest of the three matches we have played so far in the league this season," Akonnor said, as reported by Ghanasoccernet.
"It was important we kept our focus because winning against Hearts of Oak was a big deal and therefore if you are not careful, you could be complacent.
"We spoke about that and realized the match [against Karela was going to be] difficult; the opponents were disciplined.
"But we didn't give them anything, we gave them nothing and that's what I am proud of.
"If we continue to do this, it will help us."
With a solid record thus far, Ashgold sit two points clear at the top of the table with nine marks.
This weekend, Akonnor's men will seek to make it four wins on the spin when they play away to ninth-placed Bechem United.
