Keep Fit Club Presents Handball Poles to School

Ultimate Keep Fit Club in Kumasi on Saturday presented handball poles to the Kumasi T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School as its contribution towards the development of the game in the school.

Making the presentation, Mr Peter Mends, Chairman of the club, said it was unfortunate that some sports disciplines have been relegated to the background. Where they are played, he said, they are restricted mainly to Accra. He said this situation must be corrected.

Mr Mends said it was this realisation that prompted the club to present the poles to the school to popularise the game.

Speaking at the function, which was also used to inaugurate the club, Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, a social commentator and manager of Asafo Goil Filling Station, called on the older generation to lead lifestyles worthy of emulation by the youth. He said it was even more imperative for sportsmen and women to lead lifestyles that will keep them fit.

He called on the club members to create a good image for the club through their actions and activities saying they should be disciplined, and unite to achieve the purpose for which they formed the club.

Professor Patrick Addy, a former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, advised members of the club to be careful about their lifestyles and stick to one partner or abstain completely from casual sex.

A nine-member executive of the club was later sworn into office with Mr Atta Kwadwo as vice-chairman, Nana Kwaku Boakye Dankwa, secretary, Benjamin P. Frimpong, assistant secretary and Mr Joe Addae as treasurer. Others are Mr Wak Williams, financial secretary, Kofi Antwi, organiser, Isaac Quarshie, porter and Kwabena Acheampong, team manager.
