Astute businessman and former Board Member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kennedy ‘Cappuccino’ Agyepong, yesterday visited former Accra Hearts of Oak Coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio at his residence at North Kaneshie in Accra.
The former national star and coach is suffering from throat cancer, and is mostly confined to his home, as he recuperates from the surgery he underwent a few months ago.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, Mr Agyepong aka ‘Cappuccino’ confirmed that he indeed visited Coach Attuquayefio, saying that he did so because every soccer-loving fan owes the former coach some gratitude.
“Even though I am a Kotoko fan and he was coach of Hearts of Oak, I appreciate him because his contribution to the development of football in Ghana is tremendous.
“This was a man who took local boys to face a formidable Super Eagles of Nigeria team; and they came out unscathed. I really love and respect him, and I think we should not leave him on his own now. We need to be around him all the time, so he would know that we appreciate what he did for Ghana soccer.”
Mr Agyepong, CEO of Kenpong Group of Companies, and the only man in Ghana to own a Maybach (car) which costs more than $300,000, said he was very happy to see that Sir Attuquayefio was doing well.
“He seemed to be doing well when I met him, and I am really glad,” Mr Agyepong said.
In his reaction, Sir Cecil Attuquayefio had this to say to the Former Kotoko Boss: “Your visit to my house was a great honour to me. Indeed I am very glad and I very much appreciate your package of love.”
DAILY GUIDE SPORTS gathered that Mr Agyepong had asked Sir Attuquayefio to contact him anytime he needs anything and promised to remit an undisclosed amount of money to the former coach every month.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyepong has asked Kotoko fans to come out in their numbers to show their love for Former Kotoko Boss Herbert Mensah, who celebrates the one-week passing of his father today.
