Kenichi Yatsuhashi survives Hearts crisis meeting

Accra Hearts of Oak's Japanese coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi has survived the sack after a crisis meeting by the board on Monday night to examine his future as he has failed to win a game since taking charge of the Phobians.

Kenichi had been tasked to win the GHALCA top 6 competition or risk losing his job just three months after taking up the post.

The American-trained Japanese coach failed spectacularly in the competition after exiting at the first round without a goal and just one point.

He failed in the G6 after Hearts crashed out drawing 0-0 with Aduana Stars and losing 1-0 to Medeama SC.

Reports were rife that the board of the club had decided to pull the plug on his tenure as head coach of the 2000 CAF Champions League winners after his unimpressive stay with the club.

But Frank Nelson, who is a board member of the club, insists the club believe Kenichi is the right man to lead them at the moment following Monday night's meeting over the coach's future.

“We had a meeting today like we always do to look at the way forward for the club,” Frank Nelson told GHANAsoccernet.com

“After the meeting, I was the last person to leave, Kenichi is our coach, and we hold the firm conviction that he is the right man for the job.”

The appointment of the trainer three months ago has been met with massive criticism from the club's fans as many think he doesn’t have the quality and experience to handle the former African champions.

Yatshuhashi in preparation ahead of the kick start of the Ghana Premier League lost 4-1 to WAFA and 5-0 in two separate friendly against Al Ahly Tripoli.
