In-form Kevin-Prince Boateng was unable to help Las Palmas avoid defeat away at Real Betis in La Liga action on Friday evening.
The Ghana forward played the full 90 minutes of the bout—taking a role on the left side of the front three in Quique Setien’s 4-3-3 formation—but was unable to help his side lift themselves after a miserable first half.
Joaquin was one of several outstanding individuals for Betis as they celebrated Victor Sanchez del Amo’s first match in charge with a 2-0 victory at home, with the forward contributing two valuable assists.
Centre-back Bruno opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and his fellow defender, Aissa Mandi added a second in first-half stoppage time as Betis won their first league game since Osasuna were defeated almost a month ago.
Despite enjoying the majority of the possession (over 66 percent) Las Palmas were unable to find a way back into the match, with Prince unable to feed leading frontman Sergio Aguero.
Defeat leaves the Canary Islanders provisionally in ninth on 16 points after 12 matches.
