King Faisal draw with AshantiGold

Obuasi, Sept.23 GNA - Obuasi AshantiGold dropped a valuable home point when they were stretched by visiting King Faisal to a 1-1 drawn game in their Premier League match at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

It was one match both teams failed to impress and squandered numerous goal-scoring chances with the home team being the worse offender.


AshantiGold however atoned for their misses when in the 40th minute, Valentine Atem who is recovering from injuries put his side ahead with a superb goal. The Cameroonian striker picked a volley in the opponents half and outrun two defenders before beating keeper Mohammed Suraju for the opener.

On resumption of the second half, AshantiGold quickly brought on Kofi Amoako for Tony Baffoe in the 46th minute while the visitors also replaced Ishaak Debrah with Owusu Ampomah in the 55th minute. Determined to carry the day, the miners completed their substitution by the 65th minute but it was King Faisal who benefited from the changes as substitute Ampomah who played a great game contributed to his team's equaliser.


Ampomah latched on the ball on the half of AshantiGold, turning two defenders upside down before delivering a power-laden shot that scooped out of the posts and enterprising Eric Gawu was on hand to head home the ball for the much-needed equaliser.
