Black Satellites defender, Kingsley Fobi has arrived in Udinese ahead of a winter transfer move from Ghanaian football academy, Right to Dream.
The Stadio Friuli outfit wanted to sign the 17-year-old budding talent this summer but Right to Dream were asking for a fee of $350,000 whilst the Italian side were ready to offer not more than $240,000. The deal failed to go through after RTD opted for the youngster to train with Manchester City in England.
With Fobi wanting to play at Udinese where he will get more playing time and also develop at a faster rate than Manchester City who will send him on loan to either Norway or Sweden, a new bid from the Zebra’s was accepted by the Ghanaian Academy on Thursday and the player flew to Italy on Saturday to start training with the Serie A side ahead of the January move.
“Right to Dream have finally accepted our bid to sign Kingsley Fobi, the boy flew to Italy yesterday (Saturday) and will begin training with Udinese ahead of the January signing,” a source close to the deal said.
“Udinese is a great club and he will develop faster here just like the likes of Mohammed Gargo, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and others did. His chances of getting to the senior team also looks brighter," it added.
Fobi, 17, was the captain of the Ghana Black Starlets team but was promoted to the U-20 for the AYC in Senegal and the World Cup in New Zealand this year.
He can play as a central defender, a right back and as a holding midfielder.
