Numerous football fans want goalkeeper Richard Kingson hauled before the Ethics Committee to answer for comments made over the Black Stars selection for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 33-year-old was one of the major casualties after the provisional 25-man squad was announced by Coach Goran Stevanovic a fortnight ago.
The Serbian trainer insisted Kingson’s inactive club career was the reason for his omission but the ex Blackpool gloves man is having none of that.
Kingson is adamant he has ample evidence of a grand scheme by the new management committee members of the national team to weed out ageing players in the side.
“Before we played Congo one of the new management members said they are going to take out the old players in the side so I don’t know whether that is why I am no longer in the team because I can’t find any other reason,” he told Accra-based Radio Gold.
“At the right time I will name the new management member who told me that the old players will be forced out.”
His comments have however drawn widespread calls for him to appear before the newly constituted Ethics Committee to substantiate the damning allegations made.
Kingson created the impression he was ready to prove his case to the extent of naming names if pushed to the wall and that is exactly what the football fans are agitating for.
The Ethics Committee which has several competent personalities serving on it is being asked to open a thorough investigation into the case and punish the unscrupulous management members who want to bring age discrimination into the national team – presuming the allegations are indeed true.
