Kissi Boateng excluded from TP Mazembe squad

Ghanaian defender, Richard Kissi Boateng was not registered by Congolese powerhouse TP Mazembe for the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Kissi Boateng was deemed surplus to requirements by coach Herbert Velud, who has at his disposal numerous talents from across the African continent.

The rampaging left fullback was a favourite of previous coach Patrice Carteron, whose contract expired last December but has found game time difficult to come by since his departure.

The 27-year-old joined Mazembe in 2013 after impressing with Berekum Chelsea in the CAF Champions League.

Mazembe started their CAF Confed Cup group stage campaign at home today with a Group A clash against Ghanaian side Medeama SC.
