World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Kofi Kingston met with Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo to present his WWE belt.
After leaving his home country in 1993 to the United States, the WWE stars has returned to the West African country on a four-day visit.
The wrestler born Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, the current WWE Champion arrived in Ghana’s capital Accra on Thursday to a warm welcome from fans and members of the government’s 2019 Year of Return Steering Committee.
Kofi paid a courtesy call on the President of Ghana H.E Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House today May 30, to present his world title belt to the presidency.
According to him, he considers this “Year of Return” as a unique opportunity for him to make a historic visit to Ghana at the height of his wrestling career.
The 37-year-old professional wrestler will also be at the Manhyia Palace to pay homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Other activities include a Children’s Rally, visits to Tourist Sites and places like the Lake Bosomtwe, the Christianborg (Osu) Castle, Bonwire and Ntonso, a visit to the Mother and Baby Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and visits to Ejisu and Atwima Techiman which are his paternal and maternal hometowns respectively.
Kofi Kingston made history at WWE’s biggest annual calendar event Wrestlemania 35 in April and defeated Daniel Bryan in a very feisty, entertaining and roller-coaster encounter with his signature Trouble in Paradise move to clinch the highly coveted WWE Championship.
