Koforidua (Eastern Region), 23 March '99 The Koforidua Zone Second Cycle Schools Sports Association has instituted a bursary of 100,000 cedis each, a term, for the best female and male athletes in the area. The bursary, which takes effect from next term, was announced at the end of the 13th annual Koforidua Zone Second Cycle schools athletics competition which ended at Koforidua at the weekend. The first receipients are Gene Torto of Koforidua Secondary Technical School (SECTEC), who was adjudged the best male athlete of the competition and Millicent Boakye of New Juaben College of Commerce (NJUACOCO), the best female athlete. Torto won in three events, high jump, 110 metres hurdle and the long jump. Millicent was first in 100, 200 and 400 metres and anchored for her school to win the 4x100 and 4x400 metres. In all, 12 records --six each in the boys and girls divisions were set.
