All Stars coach Jimmy Korblah has praised his young charges for their discipline in Wednesday’s 2-0 home win over Hearts of Oak.
All Stars outplayed and outscored the Phobians at the Wa Stadium with goals from Abdul Ganiyu Ismail and Emmanuel Ocran and have moved to third position on 27 points.
“I’m happy with my boys. They were so disciplined tactically and our efforts were rewarded,” Korblah said.
“All these times, I have been playing without most of my first team players but these players are doing well. They are very young boys so during the break we decided to work more on their conditioning and that is paying off now for us.
“We want to win more games and our aim is to finish the season as high as possible, but I can’t predict where. It can be anywhere within the top four bracket.”
Meanwhile, the Hearts of Oak camp have blamed their defeat on the poor state of the Wa pitch.
”The pitch was very bad but all the same they [All Stars] played well,” said midfielder Gerald Odupong.
“We are not used to such a poor pitch. I think we should have been here to train on the pitch before playing this match. We were really undone by the nature of the pitch,” he added.
All Stars host Great Olympics next, while Hearts of Oak take on Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium on match day 19 this Sunday.
