Kotoko Board throw more light on coach Kodric

Kumasi, Feb 29, GNA - The Board of Directors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club has stated that the club's new coach, Hans Kodric holds a DFB License 'A' from Cologne, Germany and a Swiss National League Coach Certificate 'A' (EUFA).

Kotoko last Wednesday officially introduced Kodric as the club's new coach to the playing body, technical handlers and supporters to end various speculations of standings.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Saturday and signed by Mr Paul Victor Obeng, Board Chairman and copied to the GNA Sports said the coach, aged 58, played in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.

The statement said Kodric has experience in the German Bundesliga and the Swiss National League between 1975 and 2003 where he featured for teams like FC Zurich and FC Winterthur in the Swiss national league 'A'.

He was also coach of SSV Ulm 1846 in the German football league and was an observer of football matches and players observer for Entracht Frankfurt and Herta Berlin.

The Board said Kodric requested to be permitted to observe the team for sometime before taking a decision with regard to the offer to coach Kotoko and therefore monitored the team's performance throughout the Coca-Cola/GHALCA Top Four matches and at Kotoko's training sessions. Thereafter, the statement said, he indicated his preparedness to take up the appointment as Head Coach of Kotoko, and following this situation, the Board finalized negotiations with him leading to his appointment.

With the appointment of Kodric, Malik Jabir therefore reverts to his substantive position of Technical Director of the club but has been assigned additional responsibility as associate coach to make for smooth technical and tactical transition as Kotoko prepares for the impending CAF Champions League.

The statement said the earlier denial of the appointment of Hans Kodric as head coach of Kotoko by the Chairman of the Transitional Management Committee, Mr Kwabena Kessie, was necessitated by the fact that at the time of the rumours of the appointment of Kodric as coach of the team, he had not as yet been appointed as such but was only being considered along side other coaches.
