Kumasi Asante Kotoko have given up the chase on Gladson Awako of Heart of Lions and newly-crowned goal-king Nana Poku of Berekum Arsenal. The two enterprising players had been Kotoko’s target for the next soccer season.
But Mr. Ben Nti, Kotoko’s Administrative Manager has hinted that the Porcupine Warriors have suddenly given up the chase on the duo. He admitted that Kotoko were keen on recruiting both Awako and Poku but no more.
According to him, newly crowned Ghana champions, Berekum Chelsea, have beaten Kotoko to it, with regard to the two players. Mr. Ben Nti disclosed that Chelsea have been able to reach a deal with the two players. He disclosed that Kotoko failed to land the two players due to lack of adequate funds for recruitment.
Kotoko, he noted, would now set their eyes on other equally brilliant players for next season’s campaign. Asked to mention the players Kotoko would try to poach to strengthen their squad, Mr. Nti said, “It is not prudent to disclose their names.”
He however promised Kotoko fans that management would work assiduously to poach decent players for the club soon.
