Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club has reduced its initial request for increase in appearance and participation fees in the Coca-Cola sponsored Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top Four Tournament from 400 million cedis to 300 million cedis. A statement issued in Kumasi on Saturday and signed by the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the club, Mr Sylvester Asare Owusu (pictured) also asked that the home team should take 50 per cent of gate fees while the away team takes 25 percent.
The statement copied to the GNA Sports said, GHALCA should get 15 percent of the gate fees, while the National Sports Council (NSC) takes 10 percent and that there should be a top up of 100 percent for home teams only.
The Fabulous Club pointed out that, in the case of gate fees, all participating teams would benefit and by that, none would be worse off at the end of the tournament.
The statement said, Kotoko's request was based on the 1.8 billion cedis package GHALCA had secured from sponsors and that it has not forgotten the loses the club incurred at last year's LG Top Four tournament.
It asked GHALCA to acknowledge the fact that it costs a lot financially to raise a team for such highly publicised competitions and said it was surprised that GHALCA was acting in a manner as if it was also participating in the tournament to earn equal shares with clubs in whatever was at stake.
The Kotoko management therefore appealed to all stakeholders to reason with the club and appreciate its position without any malice.
