Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak played out a 0-0 draw in the Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in the Glo Premier League.

On a grieving afternoon when former Ghana Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama was being laid to rest, the biggest match on the league calender lacked goals but not passion or drama.

The outcome certainly will not determine the destination of the league title but rather keep both teams some distance off the top.

There could have been more from these teams but poor finishing and good goalkeeping ensured that either side were left with a share of the spoils.

It was a good game though and Kotoko were dominating until Hearts' Alhassan Ali was sent off by referee John Atikese in the 80th minute for a second bookable offence.

Despite the sending off, there was still life left in the game but poor finishing from Ben Acheampong, Michael Akuffu and Daniel Nii Adjei denied Kotoko the chance to beat goalkeeper Tetteh Lugard.

Hearts of Oak's best chance came in the first half when Laryea Kingston's goal bound effort from a freekick was cleared off the line by Joseph Ochaya with goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye completely beaten.

Kofi Nti Boakye could have registered the opener for the Porcupine Warriors but Lugard came off his line to make block.

The Phobians who survived Kotoko's many attacks were off pace in the second half with Kingston and striker Mahatma Otoo fading as the minutes ticked.

Goalkeeper Lugard ensured that Hearts were in the game, making good saves.

The result maintains Kotoko's unbeaten run so far in seven matches but their coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani will rue their inability to win while the Phobians' David Duncan leaves Kumasi with something to cheer about.
