Baba Mahama might have joined Kotoko at a young age and at an early stage of his professional career but the budding offensive player has served notice he’s not in the club to warm the bench but to command a regular place in the starting line-up.

The 19-year old was one of the most talked about performers last season with his showpiece for Techiman City – a then newly Premier League promoted side. His efforts paid off and now he has joined Kotoko on a three-year deal. Many fans believe his recruitment by Kotoko is not only big but also the bets.

Baba started training with the squad last Tuesday and played for 30 minutes when Kotoko beat newly promoted Premier League side, Bolga All Stars by 1-0 last week in Kumasi.

The attacking midfielder told Asantekotkosc.com after the match that, he has walked into a bigger challenge, stressing that the task ahead was one that he could manage with his determination to playing more and more matches for the team.

“My chances of securing playing time is bright” he said. “I only trained on Tuesday. I know that gradually everything will be fine. The challenge is manageable. There are a lot of players here, everyone is trying hard and with hard work and determination, I will to get into the first team. I came to fight to get into the first team” he said.

“I didn’t come here to be a part-time player. I didn’t come here to play few matches. I rather, I came here to play more and more matches”. Baba Mahama scored four goals for Techiman City last season. The youngster believes his coming to Kotoko after just a year in the elite division was divine.

“The making of God. I admit that my progression has been fast but that is the making of God. I didn’t think for a day that I will come to Kotoko at this stage of my career. I heard of Kotoko’s interest after the first round of last season. I was happy. God knows why he brought me here this time and His plans for me will be fulfilled”.
