Kotoko chief Samuel Opoku Nti has urged supporters to be calm following concerns over their ability to maintain their dominance on the local terrain.

The Ghanaian champions suffered a shock defeat at the Baba Yara stadium when they lost 1-0 to regional rivals AshantiGold on Sunday.

Prior to the game, the Porcupine Warriors had been impressive in low profile friendly games winning with cricket score lines.

However, they were pegged back and brought down to earth by the miners who pip them in front of their home fans.

Fans are unsure about the quality of the players to maintain their dominance on the local scene but acting General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti has called for cool heads.

“It’s just one game so I will plead with the supporters to be patient. The players are exhausted and that accounted for that defeat.

“We have another chance to make amends and I know we’ll beat them in Obuasi.

“There is no need for fans to press the panic button. We are using this competition to prepare for the start of the new season.

“They (fans) should not worry at all. We want to win the League and we’ll win again for them.”

Kotoko will travel to Obuasi to face the miners in the reverse fixture on Wednesday.
