The Management of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has constituted a Recruitment Committee to scout for new players for the club.
It has Coach David Duncan as its Chairman, and its task is to identify young- talented players for recruitment to strengthen the team ahead of the 2015/2016 First Capital Plus Premier League.
Mr. Kwaku Amponsah, a Board Member, told the GNA Sports in Kumasi that, the move has become necessary given the disappointing performance by the porcupine warriors - ended the last season, without a trophy.
That development had brought intense pressure on both the Board and Management, and already there are speculations that these bodies would be dissolved by the club’s owner and spiritual leader, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
Mr. Amponsah, who is the Chairman of the National Circles Council (NCC), said the committee has been asked to present a proposal to the Board to secure adequate funds to carry out the mission.
Kotoko, which had won the premier league title for three years running and also claimed the FA Cup, finished seventh on the league log last season.
Some its teeming and sometimes fanatic supporters have attributed the dismal showing to the poor quality of players recruited, insisting that many of the players lacked the talent and psychological strength to feature for arguably Ghana’s most successful club.
Mr. Amponsah pledged to work diligently to bring in the right players for the club to take its proper place at the continental level.
