Asante Kotoko Football Club defender, Eric Donkor, has stated that though his contract with the club expired at the end of the 2016/17 season, he would like to renew the contract and play for it again.
He explained that Kotoko was the club that brought him into the limelight so he would give the club the first option to secure his service, before considering any offers.
Speaking on OTEC FM’ “Royal Sports” programme on Tuesday hosted by Isaac Osei Akoto (KANU), the player said he is among ten players whose contract with the club has expired and the renewal of his contract is the sole decision of the coach of the team, Steve Pollack.
"I am among the ten players whose contracts have expired in the team, and I don't know the plans of the coach for now. If he needs in the team, why not I will stay,” he started.
Eric Donkor was brought to Kotoko FC as a young player under the administration of Dr. K. K Sarpong, with Maxwell Konadu as the coach, in the 2011/2012 season.
He said Kotoko FC has made him what he is today and will never play for any club in the country apart from Kotoko.
"I have received offers from two foreign football clubs and one local club, so we just wait to see. God knows what is good for me. But I won't play for any local whiles Kumasi Asante Kotoko still exists and needs me,” he revealed.
