Kumasi Asante Kotoko have dispelled rumours they are making attempts to snatch Coach Tom Strand from Medeama SC.

There have been widespread speculations that Kotoko was interested in hiring the Swedish trainer but the porcupine warriors insist their management has not met with Mr Strand and are not interested in contracting him.

Speaking to Class Sports’ Desmond Decker Tuesday March 29, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Kotoko Kwaku Ahenkorah said Coach David Duncan was still at post.

“Management of Asante Kotoko has not parted ways with Coach David Duncan; we are contracted to him. We know Coach Strand is also contracted to Medeama, and, for that matter, we do not even think it is even right for us as a club to be making any move on Tom Strand, especially when we are contracted to Coach David Duncan,” he stated.

“Coach Duncan has not been sacked. He is still at post doing his work as he does all the time, and, for that matter, it is a story we are not very comfortable with. …We believe while media men go about their chores, some of these stories must be looked into before they report…Kotoko have not contracted Tom Strand in any way, neither have we spoken to any third party to speak to him on our behalf,” he added.

Asked if such speculations were having any effect on Coach Duncan and the discharge of his duties, Mr Ahenkorah said Duncan is an experienced coach, who was not bothered about rumours of losing his job.

“Coach Duncan is an experienced coach and he knows these things happen. I don’t think this will affect him in anyway. It is not the first time he has heard rumours of him getting sacked or about to be sacked for someone else to replace him,” he noted.

“As it stands now, Asante Kotoko have not spoken to any coach to replace Coach Duncan. We have also made it completely clear to him the stories making rounds are not true and he is going to do his work without any fear,” Mr Ahenkorah stressed
