Kotoko eyeing former Ghana coach Appiah

Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has been shortlisted as one of the possible candidates for Asante Kokoto vacant position, according to reports.

Coach David Duncan was ordered by the club's top hierarchy to step aside following their poor start to the Ghana Premier League season, after recording only five points from six matches.

Appiah, 55, is a former player of Kotoko between 1983 and 1993 but currently the head coach of Sudanese side Al Khartoum SC. He has five months left on his contract and might likely not seek for a renewal.

"We’re patiently waiting for Kwesi Appiah. We’ve learned that his contract with Al Khartoum ends in September this year so we’re hoping for him to take up the Kotoko job," a Kotoko insider told Footballmadeinghana.

"Right now, I can say that Kwesi Appiah is the coach we’re all waiting for should all what we have agreed on concerning his appointment is honoured."

Assistant coach Michael Osei has been appointed as the caretaker coach until further notice.
