Kotoko’s longest serving goalie, Isaac Amoako will be out of training sessions for the next six weeks after he suffered a right knee injury last week.

In fact, the knee injury, which he sustained when Kotoko played King Faisal in the semi-final of the FA Cup, has resurfaced forcing him to seek immediate medical attention before the league season opens.

Acting General Manager, Opoku Nti broke the news to Asantekotokosc.com. When contacted, Isaac Amoako said checks and tests he has so far undergone indicate that he would not need surgery. He said he has been instructed to rest as he is being treated.

Amoako, who has served Kotoko since the 2005/2006 season hoped that he would recover early enough to taste league action when the season opens next month.

“It is an old injury that has reared its ugly face. I first had it when we played King Faisal. It was treated. I even trained and I was well until late last week when it showed up again,” said the experienced goalie.

The Porcupines haven’t formally started their pre-season programme yet. They have been training and preparing for a proper pre-season take-off.

They are expected to travel to Spain for a tour before they will return home to continue their preparation for what will definitely be a busy season. Isaac Amoako prayed that he would be healed in good time to play his goalkeeping role better than he has done in previous seasons.
