Asante Kotoko communications director Obed Achampong says they are not among the favourites to annex the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League despite picking a priceless point against Wafa at Sogakope on matchday one.
The Porcupine Warriors have struggled in recent times after winning the title between 2012 and 2014, and even finished outside the top four last season.
Acheampong backs Aduana Stars to retain the title or Hearts of Oak claiming it.
"Kotoko ended last season fifth on the log and so we want to improve on our performance this year and also increase the points we amassed but not solely aiming at the title," he told Oyerepa FM.
"The likes of Wafa, Medeama and Ashanti Gold now have new investors and will be a force to reckon with this season. However, Aduana and Hearts are the favourites to win the league especially with how Hearts are putting their house in order."
He added: "We accept that we are not favourites as many have tagged us and we accept that looking at the premises, we must take a game after the other to avoid what happened to us last season."
Kotoko will welcome Inter Allies next weekend to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as they search for their first victory in the campaign.
